The DoppelGang!

Well its been quite a while since I wrote last!

And the month of April was busy! Since I last wrote, my sketch group The DoppelGang wrote and produced our own sketch show!

It was called "No Balls" - very appropriate as some of the themes were about wussy people and also because it is a 4 woman group and we don't have any balls. (literally not figuratively)

We did make a video of it, but as of right now it is being edited by a friend of a friend. So when I get it I'll put it up here.

I'm also excited to announce that I got a nice new iMac and am currently getting better at making my own movies and illustrations. This I have been wanting to do for a long time and hopefully will be able to get a bit better with the technical side of things rather than just be "an actor"

Here is a movie I created!

I am slowing things down here (not by choice, just happened that way) for the summer. I'm taking classes at the Annoyance still and rehearsing with my improv team Roboctopus. As for sketch shows or regular stage shows there aren't any in the works.

I want to start auditioning for more things around Chicago, getting my face out there and also getting the hang of the town a bit more than I have.

I'm also going to be getting more headshots and updating my resume (even posting a link here!) so...come back soon! :D

Updates for You!

Hello Loyal reader!
You know who you are.. :)

Here are some updates for you!

Well I finished C.U.Next.Tuesday: The Amy Fisher Story: A Karaoke Musical here in Chicago. It was, in my opinion, a success. Very funny, very exciting, and definitely different than anything one has seen, it entertained many people on every show night.

Unfortunately we didn't get a real review of the show, other than a little blurb in the Reader that said the "Joey Buttafuoco joke was old". Although it can be argued as "true". I beg to differ. In the last few months Amy Fisher AND dear ol Joey have been in the news. One for a crazy sex-tape, another just for getting married. Or at least I think so, he was on TMZ and how much can you believe from gossip websites?

So old news or not, this show was very topical. Either way we never said it was supposed to be an A&E sympathy story. ..
But I digress..

During the C.U.Next.Tuesday show I was also working on (writing and rehearsing) another sketch show with my all girl team The Doppelgang.

The Doppelgang!
NO BALLS : A Sketch Comedy Revue
From high-brow sketches, about the interpersonal relations of math functions, to a series of non-stop dong jokes, The DoppelGang's "No Balls" is a comedic smorgasbord that is high minded about taking the low road. Song and dance numbers, political satire, comedy noir and yes, some girly sketches, make for an entertaining and hilarious Thursday night. This show is sure to captivate, cultivate and copulate with the audience. That's right, this show will make babies with you if you watch it.

Guess what? It opens NEXT THURSDAY...

(Yes I've had 2 Thursdays off, one I actually relaxed in, yet another I have a tech rehearsal. Thats the way I like it. )

So, if you do actually read this blog...and you are in Chicago...

The DoppelGang: No Balls. A Sketch Comedy Revue
Every Thursday in April
9:30pm $10
Gorilla Tango Theatre (my second home)
1919 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Gorillatango.com has tickets for ya.

I have also been having a great time with my improv team Roboctopus. We are currently rehearsing and performing at the CIC Theatre (as usual) and also applying for some awesome improv festivals.

There is something magical about my team and I think its the overall love of creating and the absense of jealousy and politics. And boy am I glad I have them as friends...

If you read this before this Saturday (March 29th) We have a show at the CIC Theatre (1420 Irving Park Rd) at 10:30! So come see us! Woo hoo!

Well thats it from me. Take it easy Mr. Sneezy.

Amy Fisher: A Karaoke Musical

As you can see from below, I am in C.U.Next Tuesday: An Amy Fisher Story The Karaoke Musical.

This has been a super fun show to be in! We have been rehearsing since the beginning of January (though started writing it in November...) and it is premiering next Thursday!

Don't miss it. Really, this will be one to talk about for the ages. We've also got the "go ahead" from Amy Fisher's new husband (once estranged, he released their sex tape to the masses). And the Red Light District, who marketed the sex tape gave us 6 copies. Just to make this more gross we are giving those tapes away at each of our performances.

I know you want one. Or at least to look at one. Personally I think Amy's boobs are fake. But thats just me. Of course I AM a girl and know what they look like if they are real, sooo....

I can't wait until we get some reviews up on this show! So check back.

February 7 - March 13th
Gorilla Tango Theatre
1919 N. Milwaukee

Fall Updates

This fall I've been a busy little bee!

First I made it onto my very own improv team! A CIC (Chemically Imbalanced Comedy) sponsored troupe, Roboctopus, is a wonderful improv team! We have great chemistry together and equally involved, commited members.
We have performed at The Cornservatory, Gorilla Tango, The Spot, and soon the new CIC Theatre!

I also have finished my training at iO theatre! I'm currently performing my performance level (5B's) shows on Sundays at 8pm with my other team "I am Humans". This past Sunday was supposed to be our last show but with the holidays we get 3 more Sundays! Fun!

I'm also co-producing an improv showcase at Gorilla Tango for improv teams (as we all know there are THOUSANDS here) to perform in. We had a successful run of the "Gunfight" in September and October and we are putting it up again. I think these showcases are different then the others around town because of the positivity we show the teams and the all around excitement we have for them to be there to perform.

Remember Mary Kay Latourneau? We can't forget her and the wonderful show we did about her. But the past is the past and now we (Gorilla Tango) are putting up Amy Fisher: The Karaoke Musical (not the official title). And guess what? I'm Amy Fisher! This show incorporates mob hits instead of 50's music and takes place in typical Long Island.
The show goes up in February so don't miss it! :D

Personally I'm currently writing sketches about the CTA and a sitcom pilot about lawyers. So look out world! Here I come!

Head Shots

Here are my new headshots. These are the two I liked best.

I hope they are ok for now. Because...I don't have a job to get anymore!

Tell me what you think!

Aah Christ!

Aah Christ! A Sketch Show!
May 18,19, 25,26th
Gorilla Tango

My Directorial/Produce-orial debut. This sketch show was super super fun and I had the time of my life.

Mostly written by me (some sketches I had no hand in) it had only 4 performances at Gorilla Tango.

It was so neat. It started with God himself finding out that Jesus was going to put on a sketch show. Alas, Jesus isn't that creative so we will find out if he can do well at all.
These are the ones I wrote:

Jesus has his own talk show "Jesus Talks" and interviews first Beatrice, a superficial woman who asks for bigger boobs, the Devil himself, and then Tom Cruise. It always ends to quickly in Jesus' opinion but ends just at the right time for us.

Next was Meth Morals, which was about a group of lovely kids trying to make a present for thier friend Jose. They need to work together to make this present and it just happens to be crystal meth. (this is one of my favorite sketches)
Then came WiffleBored, a silly scene about two people on a cruise and one is super bored so they just make up names for games so her friend can give her money to go and gamble. (its good times)
The Alley was one that was intermingled between these sketches about a guy who is walking around the wrong alley and gets propositioned by people to buy watches, cigars, and eventually a bible. The bible isn't exactly filled with words...more like...cigars and watches...
Another one of my favorite ones was Mono Musical. This one I wrote in one fell swoop. Its about a couple of kids on their first date. One has mono and has to sing about it. The other had the gout last summer and they both come to the conclusion that it would be great if they got mono together and watched Heathers. (which is the best solution obviously)
Benny and the Jets. Best Sketch Ever. This one is about a girl gang. They scare away people by dancing. Perfect. Oh and it takes place in the early 90s. of course.
The empire Sketch is the co-written sketch with two of my buddies. The Emperor decided to throw a BBQ for his sith lords and a couple of neighbors. He is highly competitive and when Mary brings her award winning guacamole he gets very pushy and they end up Slow motion fighting. You had to see it. Its super.
In the End God decides that this sketch show went fairly well, or in Gods words "on a scale of one to ten..I didn't hate it"

This show was so fun for me. I casted it myself and the cast worked so well together and now we're all fun super friends!
The audience really liked it...or shall I say it was very well received. The last night we had 60 people and I actually made money on this thing.
All in all I would do this again. But for now I think I need to audition and BE on stage. I need it!
